For many students, success in school can be a daily challenge. As a parent, you want to give your student the skills they need to meet that challenge head-on. Honor Roll tutors work with your student to bridge the gap between today's education and the future success your child deserves.
-
One-on-One Instruction: There is overwhelming research to support the benefits of one-on-one tutoring in improving students’ grades, study skills, and confidence levels READ MORE (pdf). At Honor Roll Tutoring all instruction is one-on-one. We firmly believe this is the best way to help students learn because:
- Many of the distractions inherent in a classroom environment are eliminated.
- The student is more apt to open up to a tutor with questions or concerns in the more private setting of a one-on-one tutoring sesison.
- Your student also benefits from the consistency of meeting with the same tutor each time.
-
Our Tutors: We are very selective in our hiring process. You can be assured that the person working with your student is professional and able to help improve your child's academic performance.
-
Totally Customized: Our tutors determine your student’s strengths and weaknesses as they work together, so the pace and focus of the tutoring program can be adjusted as needed. At Honor Roll, we pride ourselves on our ability to work with the whole student. We are not tied to any one instructional approach or set of materials. This ability to customize allows us to tailor our program to the student’s needs, rather than trying to fit the student’s needs to a specific program. Honor Roll tutors teach your student during the entire tutoring session. At some other centers, students spend the whole session completing worksheets. We do not believe this is effective. Our tutors work together with your child to evaluate performance on homework assignments and tests, pinpoint problem areas, review concepts and strategies, and set goals.
-
Assessment: Our programs are consistent with the instructional program of the school in which your child is currently enrolled. However, for our students in kindergarten through 8th grade, math instruction begins with an educational evaluation. If it is determined that it would be helpful to supplement your child's math text from school, we use a very innovative program created by Math Teachers Press. The program goals closely parallel those of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Curriculum and Evaluation Standards which emphasize using manipulatives, reasoning, communication, connections and problem solving at all levels. This program is also closely correlated to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Frameworks.
-
Additionally, if it is determined to be beneficial, we provide our high school students with a research-based survey to assess the student’s learning style. Our tutors base their plan of instruction on the results of this assessment and design their lesson plan with the awareness of how each student learns best. For a limited time, all assessments are provided to our students at no extra charge.
-
Convenience: We provide you with highly qualified instructors in the comfort of your home, at a time that's convenient for you and your family, and at a reasonable price. Tutoring sessions may also be scheduled at schools, after school facilities, libraries, or community centers. We recognize that your time is in short supply, so we make every effort to accommodate your schedule.

Customer Service: Honor Roll Tutoring will assign a tutor based on the information you provide about your child’s personality, educational background, strengths and weaknesses. We strive to make the perfect match between student and tutor from the beginning. If, however, you are not pleased with the tutor for any reason, or if you feel your student does not have a good rapport with the tutor, please notify our office immediately and we will be happy to assign a new instructor.
Honor Roll Tutoring administrators are certified through the National Tutoring Association. We adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in our tutoring practice.
